How To Wear
- Auspicious Timing: Sunday mornings (dedicated to Lord Surya) are the most powerful and auspicious time to begin wearing the 12 Mukhi Rudraksha.
- Preparation: Take a purifying bath, wear clean and ideally light-colored or red clothing, and sit in a peaceful space facing the East (towards the rising sun).
- Activation Ritual: Gently wash the bead with Ganga Jal (holy water) or unboiled milk. Offer red flowers and consecrate the bead by applying a small dot of red sandalwood paste or kumkum.
- Mantras: Hold the bead in your hands and chant the seed mantra “Om Kraum Sraum Raum Namah” or “Om Surya Namah” 108 times with deep devotion to invoke its radiant, solar energies.
- Adornment: Thread the Rudraksha using a red silk or woolen string, or have it encased in gold or copper. Wear it around your neck so it rests close to your heart center.
Care Tips
- Inspection: Ensure the bead is fully intact with distinct, natural lines (mukhis) before wearing. Do not wear a bead that is cracked, chipped, or physically damaged.
- Cleaning & Conditioning: Clean the bead gently once a month using a soft bristle brush and lukewarm water. Once it is completely dry, lightly massage it with olive oil, almond oil, or sandalwood oil to keep the seed strong and prevent it from drying out.
- Storage: Whenever you take the bead off, place it on your puja altar or in a clean, sacred box to let it recharge its positive vibrations.
- When to Remove: Always remove the Rudraksha before sleeping, showering, consuming alcohol or non-vegetarian food, or visiting places of mourning to maintain its spiritual purity and power.
